“Western Promises”
A poem written by my friend, Raymond Neil Torres

A lasting love created in a land to the east,
Strong enough to cross mountains, ford rivers, and trees.
A promise to withstand the tests of time,
A promise we made with your hand in mine.

For years we cherished a love so serene,
In keeping with all of our hopes and our dreams.
We both took a promise to forever be,
A promise I gladly took down on one knee.
