Our Guiding Star

cory_aquino1“To us she was the symbol of the world we wanted: a world where people could speak their minds without disappearing, where public servants actually served, where leaders were honest, just, selfless, intelligent and dignified.”

- Jessica Zafra, “Our better selves” (Philstar.com)

Last week, the Philippines had lost one of the greatest, if not the greatest leader it ever had.

Cross-less Christians

“Whoever does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” - Luke 14:27

We live in a cross-less society, where people are not willing to carry their own burdens or endure any trouble. Even some Christians want their faith to be light, worry-free, and non-challenging to their life-style choices. It’s as if we’re saying to Christ and His first disciples, “that cross carrying stuff is old-fashioned. We want to emerge as new Christians, who are free to reject what we don’t like of the old ways and re-invent our faith. We want it all to be light and fluffy, likeable and popular. We don’t want to carry nasty crosses anymore.”

True Colors

This post is about me, from a website that “determines” your personality through the preceedence of colors you choose.

Just so you know. :)

“You are a very sensitive person and you try hard (perhaps a little too hard) to make favourable impressions and to be recognised by your peers. But you have that inherent need to feel appreciated and admired and you are easily hurt if all of your endeavours go by unappreciated or not acknowledged. Stop trying so hard.

You are looking for something different. Your imagination has been working overtime and you are seeking adventure – and you’d like to share that adventure, the new experience, with someone like yourself: Imaginative, Enthusiastic and Sensitive.

You are confined and trapped in a distressing or uncomfortable situation and seeking some way out. Whatever you seem to do to resolve the problem hasn’t worked out. Fortunately you are able to gain some aspect of relief from someone close to you.

You are being unduly influenced by the situation that is all around you. You do not like the feeling of loneliness and whatever it is that seems to separate you from others. You know that life can be wonderful and you are anxious to experience life in all its aspects, to live it to the full. You therefore resent any restriction or limitations that are being imposed on you and you insist on doing it alone.

You are trying to build up your own position and you resist all external influences. You insist that you are your own person and you will not tolerate any outside interference. Decisive and proud, you are true managerial material.”

The Glass Jar and the Two Cups of Coffee

2cupsofcoffee

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the glass jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty glass jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

Vanity

Fiction

You have your own fiction…

All I have is my reality.

Mr. Obama, question please?

A question for Senator Barack Obama…

Since 1/3 of all babies currently inside their mothers won’t be born, tell me, Mr. President-elect, of
these 15 sweet little babies, which five should be aborted and discarded like
trash?

Back To The Drawing Board

“How I live today will affect all my tomorrows.

I know that turning down the wrong road is part of the journey;

and finding my way back is a challenge.

And I know that if I keep God close to my heart,

home will never be far away.

There will be expectations not met,

promises lost, tears and moments of despair.

But I’ll remember to be grateful for the sunshine

and to find hope in the rainbow.

To laugh from my soul,

and to always hold on to my dreams.”

For me, I guess it’s back to the drawing board. :)
